O MS-DOS foi a base do sistema operativo windows, o seu nome inicial era QDOS mas a partir do momento que adquiriram a licença para ser reconhecido como um sistema operativo o seu nome alterou-se para aquele que hoje conhecemos “MS-DOS”.

O sistema operativo não tinha ambiente gráfico pois apenas tinha um fundo preto e caracteres que variavam entre verde e branco.

Devido a facilidade que o MS-DOS oferecia para a programação, a Microsoft, decidiu comprar o sistema operativo para se basear no mesmo assim iniciando o PC-DOS e MS-DOS para criar o Windows.
